Intriguing Week 5 NCAA Football Matchups and Week 4 Recap
Week 4 Recap
Some football analysts said that Alabama should “watch out” for a good Vanderbilt team. Well, #1 Alabama thought differently with a 59-0 throttling of Vandy.
#4 Penn State went into Kinnick Stadium expecting a hard-fought battle against the Iowa Hawkeyes. That’s exactly what they got. PSU needed a 4th and Goal touchdown pass with 0:04 seconds left to win the game.
#11 Georgia smoked the #17 Mississippi State Bulldogs 44-31 and have jumped into the top 10 rankings this week.
The #24 Oregon Ducks dropped out of the top 25 with a late field goal loss to an unranked Arizona State team.
As I warned last week, #12 Florida State needed to come out strong or they would have a tough time with NC State. The Seminoles faulted with a 27-21 loss to the Wolf Pack.
The #6 Oklahoma State Cowboys were embarrassed at home by #16 TCU in a matchup of two unbeaten teams. Final score 44-31
And #20 Florida needed a touchdown with 0:43 seconds left and a missed 56-yard field goal as time expired to beat the Kentucky Wildcats
After a great Week 4, here are some potentially exciting Week 5 Matchups:
#14 Miami vs. Duke
Friday, September 29th 7:00pm ET
The Hurricanes have only played two games this year, both wins against sub-par programs. However, the Blue Devils are 4-0 and will play host to #14 Miami. Look for Duke to come out strong and attempt the upset at home.
#5 USC vs. #16 Washington State
Friday, September 29th 10:30pm ET
Washington State started the year off with 4 victories at home and look to be 5-0 after they host USC prior to heading out on their first road trip. USC, on the other hand, has looked unstoppable at times. But, in their last two matchups have sputtered but come out with a W.
#24 Mississippi State vs. #13 Auburn
Saturday, September 30th 6:00pm ET
After an embarrassing loss to Georgia, Mississippi State is on the road against #13 Auburn, whose only loss came to #2 Clemson. To stay in contention, the Bulldogs need a win against a tough Auburn team at home.
#2 Clemson vs. #12 Virginia Tech
Saturday, September 30th 8:00pm ET
Virginia Tech started the season off with a strong home win vs. West Virginia and dominating their next 3 opponents by a combined score of 129-17. But this week will be different against an explosive Clemson squad that already has 2 wins against top 25 teams.
