Intriguing Week 9 NCAA Matchups and Week 8 Recap

Intriguing Week 9 NCAA Matchups and Week 8 Recap

Week 9 started with a back and forth contest between #25 Memphis and un-ranked Houston. Memphis came out on top by 4 scoring two late touchdowns.

Alabama took care of business against Tennessee 45-7 and maintains the top spot in the NCAA.

The big matchup of the week was #2 Penn State at home vs. #19 Michigan. Trace McSorley and Saquon Barkley owned the Wolverines in route to a 42-13 victory.

#13 Notre Dame took care of business vs. #11 USC in a 49-14 trouncing of the Trojans. The Fighting Irish with only 1 loss to a 7-0 Georgia team is looking to charge up the rankings.

Week 9 is full of key matchups and conference rivalries that can greatly affect the playoff picture:

#11 Oklahoma State vs. #22 West Virginia

Saturday, October 28th 12:00 ET

Coming off a 13-10 victory over Texas, Oklahoma State looks to take care of business against a surging West Virginia squad. The Mountaineers have been up and down this season but after two solid wins over conference teams and key matchups on the horizon, WVU can make this mid-season push count.

#2 Penn State vs. #6 Ohio State

Saturday, October 28th 3:30 ET

The game of the week will be played at the Horseshoe in Columbus, Ohio. Coming off a bye week, Ohio State can hopefully learn from the mistakes of the last foes to face Penn State. Ohio State hopes to return the favor from a year ago when Penn State upended the then #2 Buckeyes in Happy Valley.

#4 TCU vs. #25 Iowa State

Saturday, October 28th 3:30 ET

#4 TCU jumped into the top four last week. After a 43-0 tune-up game vs. Kansas, the Horned Frogs will try to keep their playoff hopes alive against the Iowa State Cyclones. A loss here would likely make it difficult to get back into the playoff series and the Cyclones are clawing to keep in the top 25.

#14 NC State vs. #9 Notre Dame

Saturday, October 28th 3:30 ET

With a big victory over USC this past weekend, Notre Dame will try to push past the Wolf Pack at home on Saturday afternoon. Since their 7pt loss in week 1, NC State has quietly crept to #14 in the nation and #1 in the ACC.  They have two big tests coming up, this week at Notre Dame and a home game against #7 Clemson on the 4th of November.
