NFL Week 6 Preview
Of course, it’s karma that the week I actually brag a little bit about my beloved Buffalo Bills they lay an egg and lose. The offense only put up 221 yards. They gotta find a way to get more out of Tyrod Taylor and Co. The defense is solid but when you are down 4 points with 3:33 in the game and 75 yards to go to win it, the offense needs to be able to put a drive together. I should have known better than to bring up how well they are doing. Next time I won’t do it. And if I do, I will make sure that I knock on multiple pieces of wood.
Here are five games to watch this week.
Los Angeles Rams (3-2) @ Jacksonville Jaguars (3-2)
Who would have predicted this game as one of the biggest matchups heading into this week before the season started? Jared Goff has had a really solid sophomore campaign so far. This week he faces a really tough test. The Jaguar passing defense is the No. 2 passing defense in the league this year. They picked off Big Ben 5 times last week, 2 for pick-6s.
Prediction- Jags 28, Rams 21
New England Patriots (3-2) @ New York Jets (3-2)
The Bills, Jets and Patriots are all tied atop the AFC East standings. With the Bills on a bye this week, that leaves the winner of this game in first place. The Jets started off 0-2 but are now on a 3-game winning streak. They currently are the No. 1 team in the league at holding opponents from scoring points once they are inside their own 30, only allowing points 64% of the time. Then again, the Jets haven’t faced an offense like the Patriots all season. It will be interesting to see if the bend-but-don’t-break style of defense the Jets play will continue to work.
Prediction- Pats 31, Jets 20
Pittsburgh Steelers (3-2) @ Kansas City Chiefs (5-0)
“Maybe I don’t have it anymore.” Those were the words Ben Roethlisberger said in the postgame interview after throwing 5 INTs against Jacksonville. He’s had a great career but I really hope those words aren’t true. My fantasy team needs him to be good! He’s going up against the best team in the league so far in Kansas City. Alex Smith should be getting some MVP love. He’s been on fire and they haven’t turned the ball over since the very first snap of the season.
Prediction- Chiefs 27, Steelers 17
Green Bay Packers (4-1) @ Minnesota Vikings (3-2)
Remember when Davante Adams was nearly beheaded against Chicago? 10 days later he’s catching the game-winning touchdown acrobatically against a tough Cowboys team. That is one of six TDs thrown by Aaron Rodgers this season in the 4th quarter. He leads the league in TDs thrown in the final quarter of play. The Vikings have somewhat of a QB battle brewing between Sam Bradford and Case Keenum. Bradford bailed out a ton this last week and was replaced by Keenum. Only two QBs (Drew Brees and Alex Smith) have more pass attempts without throwing an interception this season.
Prediction- Packers 34, Vikings 23
Philadelphia Eagles (4-1) @ Carolina Panthers (4-1)
Both of these teams are the real deal. Carolina is coming off a great win over the Lions while the Eagles dominated the Cardinals. Cam Newton threw 3 TDs last week. Carson Wentz threw 4 TDs. Wentz threw for 304 yards. Newton threw for 355 yards. Both of these offenses have been playing really well lately. They have lots of weapons and great coaches that should make for a gun game Thursday night.
