Tonight: Kyrie And The Celtics Vs. Steph And The Warriors
The two top teams in the NBA with the longest winning streaks, the Boston Celtics and the Golden State Warriors, face-off tonight at TD Garden in Boston.
The Boston Celtics
The Celtics, who are being named as the underdogs, currently hold the NBA's longest winning streak of 13 straight games. Led by their masked crusader Kyrie Irving, who is averaging 20.6PPG and 5.2APG, the Celtics are bearing down on the competition. In their last 13 games, they have averaged a winning margin of 10.2PPG.
Although the Celtics have had an imposing start to their season, they have also had some setbacks. On opening night of the regular season against the Cleveland Cavaliers, their starting small forward Gordon Hayward fell victim to an ankle injury that left him out for the rest of the season.
After losing of one of their starting players and coming off a two-game loss to start the season, the Celtics have made a miraculous comeback, outscoring formidable power teams such as the Oklahoma City Thunder, San Antonio Spurs, and Detroit Pistons. The big question now is will it be enough to take down reigning Champions, The Golden State Warriors?
The Golden State Warriors
After defeating the Cavaliers last season to claim the title as the 2016-2017 NBA Champs, the Warriors have their eyes on a repeat this year. They currently have the second-best record in the NBA(11-3) and are number one in the Western Conference.
With Stephen Curry leading the team in PPG(25.2) and Draymond Green leading in rebounds(7.6) the Warriors are favored to beat the number one seed in the east. Although a clean victory isn't guaranteed, Warriors head coach Steve Kurr came out yesterday saying this about tonight's opponent,
“They’re really sound, and they’re motivated . . . Boston is just crushing people. So, it’s going to be really fun to go against them on Thursday. We know how tough it’s going to be"
The Warriors also have the League's second-best winning streak at 11 straight games, trailing the Celtics by two games. Tonight the two teams will face off on the Celtics home turf. The arena is sure to be packed with fans from both sides as each team strives to extend their lead in the league. Will the Celtics overpower the current champs and walk away with their 14th straight win? Or will the Warriors demonstrate why they are referred to as the best team in the NBA?
All will be answered in tonight's game. So, Who Ya Got?
